Staffordshire Bull Terriers are smooth-coated dogs, possessing strength, stamina and agility. Their head is short, with a broad skull and a distinct stop. Dark round eyes look straight ahead. Medium-sized ears are rose or half-pricked. The nose is black.

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is a devoted family dog. These dogs are courageous, and strong-willed. Such characteristics as curiosity, intelligence, and toughness are also typical of the breed. Staffords normally make excellent watchdogs. Staffordshire Bull Terriers are protective and trustworthy, and people-friendly. Staffordshire Bull Terriers do well with children.

Although the dog's short coat requires little grooming, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier is definitely not the right breed for any family, but it is a special dog. It is important that you show your pet that you are the leader and it is you who sets the rules. If you start early socialization and training of your Staffordshire Bull Terrier, you won't have problems with handling your dog. They adore roughhousing and chewing. Staffordshire Bull Terriers adore car rides, hikes and walks with their master.

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier has a close coupled body with a level top line.
The dog's muscular neck is short. It widens towards the shoulders. The well-boned legs are straight and set far apart.
The feet are well padded. The smooth, short coat can be red, fawn, black or blue, or any of these colors with white.
